Green Living

What is Green Living?

0Green Living is also called Sustainable Living and its goal is to reduce the individual’s and society’s impact on and usage of the Earth’s natural resources. We all need to learn green living practices and work to reduce our carbon footprint by altering our methods of transportation, energy usage, products we purchase and foods we eat. It is important in green living to remember the three R’s — reduce, reuse and recycle — whenever you can.

(A “carbon footprint” is “the total set of greenhouse gas emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product.” Learn how to calculate your carbon footprint here.)

In addition, environmental illnesses and allergies are on the rise today. Reducing environmental toxicity is critical in Green Living as well as in controlling these diseases, maintaining a strong immune system and overall good health.  Toxicity in your personal environment can be reduced by taking some simple precautions such as choosing safer organic, chemical-free and fragrance-free products, and using air and water filtration..
